Fuchsia Daisy

To continue with the flowers taken with flash for this month on Today's Flowers...

Today's Flowers

Daisy

This was taken on mom's birthday last September 2009. Brother bought her a bouquet of roses and a bouquet of daisies, and after the celebration, I took the time to take pictures of the flowers. Because it was already quite late at night and that the lighting was a bit low, I decided to turn on the flash in taking the pictures. Somehow, I loved the outcome of it. :)

Makapal (Thick)

Rays

{Thick clouds. That's what we saw when we awaited for the sunset by the Bay Area of the Manila Ocean Park. As thick as it was, I found the mix of clouds and the sun very beautiful because of the rays on the sides, as if the heavens have opened for the world to see. This picture was taken 30 December, the family's last day out for 2009.}

Beary Cheesy

New theme for the new month... this time I will be focusing on food. :)

353/365 - Beary Cheesy

In a photography forum, they had an assignment called "Red and Green." I didn't want to be Christmassy with my submission, so I decided to play with the gummy bears. I took this picture inside my dark, unlit bedroom, with the help of my sister's key chain light. I was aiming to use the light as a spot light concentrating on the gummy bears, but I just can't seem to get it. Although I liked this one, I am hoping to re-do this shot and make the background very chaotic - I would like to achieve a very disastrous background with the bears on focus giving it a message that "love conquers all."

Will certainly add gummy bears to the grocery list so I can re-shoot as soon as possible.

Orange Flowers

My very first post for 2010. Happy New Year, everyone! New month, new theme for me here on Today's Flowers. For this month, I will share flower pictures taken with the flash on.

Today's Flowers

Orange Flowers

I was waiting for the sunset on 31 December, when I saw that one of the plants in our garden already had some flowers. Because it was already dusk, it was difficult for me to take flower pictures, so I had to turn on the flash. I am using a point and shoot camera, and in order to take close up pictures, I had to put the lens as close as possible to the subject. The flash would fire very close to the subject as well, so in order to achieve what I wanted, I set the exposure to -2, otherwise the flower would be very white because of the flash. I also set the camera to "center weighted avg." that's why the little antennas of the flowers were a bit blurred.

Santa Mug

Santa Mug

Mid 2009, mom attended a reunion party with her former office mates, and in some of the party games they had, winners were given a piece of this Santa Mug. Mom was part of the winning team three times, so she gave each of her children one mug each. It was so funny to receive a Christmas inspired item in the middle of the year, but, now that it's Christmastime, the mugs have already served its purpose.

Now where did I put the bag of marshmallows?

Happy Holidays, everyone!
