Paper Daisies

Everlasting

Macro Monday Today's Flowers

My photo share this week is an image of Paper Daisies, which is also known as Strawflower. Here in the Philippines, it is widely known as Everlasting because it pretty much looks the same even when it is already wilted, especially the deep orange ones. I took this picture from a garden shop in La Trinidad, Benguet... where most flowers and vegetables are cultivated.

I edited this picture by selecting the flower, yet my mind was thinking maybe I should have included the stem, too. What do you think?

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - 041011

I have been absent for three weeks (I guess), so I am glad to be able to join this week's hunt. Sadly, not all pictures are taken this week, though pictures 1 and 4 were taken from this month as well. Here are my pictures:

Motion

01 - Motion

I took this from the bridge that connects Caloocan City and San Jose del Monte City. My sister and I were walking back home from a jog when I noticed these three young men running as quick as the could so they could cross the bridge fast, as there was a jeepney behind them. These lads earn a living by collecting recyclables using their cart made of wood.

Waiting to Click

02 - Waiting to Click

I have attempted time and time again to capture a cat yawning, and I was able to achieve it just once, last year. Today, I saw my cat Oreo sleeping and thought I'd take a picture of him yawning again. I disturbed his sleep trying to tickle his chin so he would yawn, but he just wouldn't. All the while, my right hand was half-pressing my camera shutter, so when he yawns, I am all ready.

Not.

When I got tired holding the camera, I put it down one sec and he yawned! Arrrgh. I left him for a while to sleep again, and after a few minutes, I disturbed him again. I caught a small yawn, but it wasn't good (so blurry), so what I did was to up the exposure of my camera, put the ISO to 1600 and set it on a much faster shutter speed. I was tickling his tummy when he yawned again, and good thing that split second yawn was captured by my camera.

In Fashion

03 - In Fashion

Well, my sister's not really that fashionable here, and this was rather an off-guard shot (I took this just a few minutes ago)... I just thought that now that summer is here, tank tops and short skirts (and short pants) are totally in fashion!

Animal's Perspective

04 - Animal's Perspective

If my cats aren't playing with each other, or they aren't sleeping, I see any one of my cats looking out of the window. At times I don't get the whole thing about it, but one time, I saw my cat looking out of the window, and looking at his perspective, I saw a bird on one of the tree branches. My cats are quite vicious (I feel sad that they are good in catching birds), so there are times I close the windows so they won't see the birds.

Many

05 - Many

Before sister and I went from our vacation, Aunt Lorie gave us a big bag full of mung beans, which they harvested from their small farm. Just last Friday, we noticed that there were so many bugs in the beans, so brother took a big flat container and placed the beans where the sun would hit it. This afternoon, before brother placed it back in the container, I took a picture first.

Can you guess how many beans are there?

Yes, many. :)

FF - Strawberries

I intend to use Fabulous Friday and Foto Friday on two separate blogs, but since I found a picture that fit both memes, I decided to do it here instead.

Strawberries

These strawberries were given by our neighbor last Monday. We were very happy with it, because when my sister and I traveled to Benguet, sister bought some strawberries, too, but wasn't able to eat it and worse, she forgot it inside the fridge when we traveled to Vigan City from our house in La Union. There were only a few strawberries given to us (our neighbor apologized because the strawberries were so fragile and that there were quite a lot that didn't look so fresh anymore.

I sure hoped to sliced these fruits and add cream in it, or maybe cook it in some honey and rhum and make a crepe filling, but these were my sister's, so I just asked her if I could take pictures first.

A Swoosh of Clouds

Lines

My share for this week was something I took using my cell phone. At that time, there was a photo hunt, and one of the prompts in the list was "Capture the Sky." When I saw the clouds looking like this, I quickly appreciated its beauty and was grateful that I had my cell phone with me to capture the scene.

Hope everyone is having a great Friday!

LP - Kahit Ano (Freestyle)

{Happy anniversary, co-LPers! Time really flew fast, but I am so happy to be part of Litratong Pinoy a few months before it was established. Anyway, there is no particular theme for this week, so I decided to share this picture instead:}

Tangadan Falls

{The Tangadan Falls is located in San Gabriel, La Union. San Gabriel is one of La Union's towns that we still haven't seen even if it was basically a jeep ride from our place in Bacnotan. We always wanted to set foot here ever since we get to see some pictures from the La Union Souvenir Magazines owned by our aunt, and we were very happy that our cousin Mhai said she would love to explore San Gabriel with us, too.}

{I told my cousin that I wanted to see the Lon-Oy Springs in San Gabriel, but a few days before sister and I went vacationing in La Union, she sent me a text message asking me to search for Tangadan Falls on the Internet. I only got to see one picture, but it was enough to fuel my urge to see the place.}

{Together with cousin Mhai, her brother MC, and MC's friends, my sister and I trekked to Tangadan Falls. They already told us that the whole trek would take us more than an hour and we had to cross rocky water trails, forest areas, and uneven bodies of land, but we told them sister and I were prepared for this trip. Truly, it was a very difficult trek, but when we saw the falls, our happiness was just overflowing.}

{We took a different route back, and as we climbed the boulders, we got to see a much smaller falls, but I wasn't able to take a photograph of it because I already wrapped my cell phone and camera in plastic, as rain was about to fall. The trek back was much more difficult, and because of it, I don't know if I can still go back to this spot. I guess, even if I don't get to set foot here, the pictures I took were enough to make me fulfilled, though of course, I still pray for a chance for us to trek back here.}
