D = Dumaguete

Seal

When my dear British friend K told me the trip to the Philippines was approved, one of the places I hoped we would visit was Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. I was so happy when K granted my wish.

Dumaguete City was a small city also known as the "City of Gentle People." When we got there, it was indeed true that the people here are gentle and nice, and sweet. The City is also referred to as the "University City," because of the several universities and colleges that provide tertiary education to students coming from all parts of the country.

Some pictures around the City:

At Night

Saint Catherine de Alexandria Cathedral, at night.

Bell Tower

The Cathedral's belfry.

Dumaguete Sunrise

The spectacular sunrise by the Rizal Boulevard.

Rizal Blvd.

The Rizal Boulevard by dusk.

Amphitheater

Me at the amphitheater of the Silliman University, the first Protestant University in the Philippines, and is the the University where the City is well known for.

So Long, Dumaguete!

Dumaguete Airport, taken just minutes before we left.

These pictures were taken November of 2008. K and I stayed for three days and two nights in the city. Although some of our initial plans weren't realized, we were happy we visited the place. Just three months after this visit, I was able to set my foot back in the city, but I was with my brother and some friends from the Catholic organization where we belonged.

K told me there will be another Philippine trip coming next year, and my dear friend is hoping we could go back here. If that one pushes through, I will be reuniting myself with this dear City pretty soon. =)

Happy mid-week, everyone! Thanks for visiting.
