The only military inspired picture I have in my file was this one - a collection of different pictures from my late father's ROTC graduation in college. He so wanted to become a soldier, but his father didn't want him to pursue that dream (maybe because my late grandfather was a World War II veteran and he was a bit traumatized by it).
Like what I told in my eulogy, my father didn't really become a soldier to protect and serve the country, but he did protect and served his family until his death. For us, he will always be our soldier, our hero.
