Sipping Nectar

Sipping Nectar

For this week's post in Ruby Tuesday, I am sharing a butterfly / flower image I took in the butterfly garden in Baluarte - Vigan, Ilocos Sur. Traveling to this place was something I planned to do because I hoped to join a photo contest featuring "Natures Beauty," and I couldn't think of anything possible to take but the butterfly sipping nectar.

Taking this picture under the heat of the sun was a tedious thing to do. Not only was it difficult to get close to the butterflies and take pictures, it was also difficult to set my "own shoot" because there were other people in the garden.

Somehow, in the 30 minute stay I gave myself, I was able to capture this - my favorite in the bunch. This was an SOOC shot, and the only editing thing I did with the picture was to resize it and name stamp it. My camera was set to center weighted average, so only the middle part was clear, the rest are a bit blurred.

I had this picture printed, but sadly, I wasn't able to submit it for the contest. I don't know if this would win, but there was a slight regret that I didn't mail the printed picture. The contest is still on going (with a different theme now), and I am so looking forward in joining that one.

I like the shot, and I like the blurred out edges. Now I know what that technique is called, thanks for the lesson.

Peace.
